| German Language Diploma (Deutsches Sprachdiplom - DSD)
The DSD is offered through the German government (Bundesverwaltungsamt - Zentralstelle für Auslandsschulwesen). Exams are offered at more than 428 schools in over 50 countries, with more than 16,000 successful participants every year worldwide. The DSD represents an official certificate with centralized exams. The exam consists of four parts: a written essay, reading and listening comprehension, as well as oral communication. Evaluation of the written parts is being conducted in Germany, but students take the exam in their home country. In 2007/2008 a newly structured version of the DSD has come into effect that is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprachen): DSD - A2 -- basic use of the language; offers advantages for job application DSD - B1 -- independent use of the language; Language proficiency certificate to enroll at a preparatory "Studienkolleg" DSD - C1 -- competent use of the language; Language proficiency certificate for university studies in Germany Our DSD program enhances the students' learning experience, and it allows them to live up to their full potential in high school and secondary education. It also gives them an edge in today's highly competitive international job market. We are very proud and fortunate that the Thames Valley District School Board is a strong supporter of our program. |
